Equity Theory

Equity theory focuses on determining whether the distribution of resources is fair to both relational partners. It proposes that individuals who perceive themselves as either under-rewarded or over-rewarded will experience distress, and that this distress leads to efforts to restore equity within the relationship. All relationships have “give and take”. We weights the rewards and costs of developing relationships and engage in those that enable us to maximize our profits. This is the Social Exchange Theory.  Profits = Rewards – Costs. Rewards could be: money, status, love, information, goods or services.

Examples:
– to make our partner happy we might have to watch sci-fi movies we don’t like.
– To make our boss like us, we might have to drink with him every single Friday.

We don’t like costs when the risks outweigh the rewards. We maintain those relationships in which the ratio of our rewards relative to our costs is approximately EQUAL to our partners. This is the Equity Theory. Watch the video below.

Best Women’s Facial Attitude

Don’t flirt away from the camera as this is a bad attitude. Get eye contact and flirt right into the camera.

Best Men’s Facial Attitude

Best for men is: Don’t flirt. No eye contact. Look away from the camera and don’t smile.

For Women
MySpace Shot
The MySpace shot is the single most effective photo type for women.
Hold your camera above your head and be coy.

For Men
“Guys should keep their shirts on” is an Internet cliché and is wrong for guys with great bodies.
Of course, abs must be worth showing, and good bodies get lots of messages. But “the effectiveness of the “abs pic” decreases sharply with age.” Keep your shirt on if you are older than 31 years old.

For Women
A woman showing her body gets more messages. An older woman not showing off gets less messages. Anti-aging trend: “The older the woman, the more relatively successful she is showing off her body.”
